I try to keep my family photography very natural, capturing the action as it happens, so it's lots of fun and not too much posing. I feel this brings out everyone's true character and also makes the session more enjoyable.
How would you describe your photography style?
Yes, I will spend some time taking some relaxed portraits of you together, as this can be an important photo for you too, but I spend more time letting the action happen naturally and capturing the moment as they unfold.
Do you take any traditional posed shoots?
How do I book a session with you?
After we select a suitable date, a $100 retainer fee is needed to hold the date for you. Once we have the date reserved, a signed agreement is needed, and then we can start to plan for all the fun! Keep in mind that the balance is due one day before the shooting date.
This is a super important matter for how images will turn out.I love working with natural light, that being said, we work as light is best during daytime.
- The lighting for outdoor sessions is best during the 1-2 hours before sunset or during the 1-2 hours after sunrise. This is called the golden hour and depending on the season time will be shorter or longer.
- The lighting for indoor sessions varies depending on the location, but is typically best between 10am and 4pm. We need to have even window light coming through, but not direct sunlight shining in.
- If your schedule is complicated around recommended timings, we will need to keep in mind that we will be needing a location that offers ample shade blocking the sun. When the sun is high up it creates harsh, unflattering shadows on people.
What is the best time of day to have the session?
Where does the photo session take place?
Our location options for photo sessions are endless. If you have something in mind, let me know, I will love to hear about it! I will be providing you a list of options from open fields, beautiful parks, near the water such as lake or river, historic towns or iconic cities. Depending on the season, we can also look for beautiful flower fields blooming at that time. Utilizing a location that matches your aesthetic is key.
How long does it take to get our photos?
Around two to three weeks after the session, your edited images will be available for viewing in a private online gallery.
What should I wear?
I will be providing you a style guide for tips on choosing your outfits. I am happy to help you find flattering styles, colors and accessories for your photo shoot.
What happens if it rains the day of our shoot?
In the case of inclement weather, we'd just reschedule for the next available date that works best for the both of us. You won't lose out on your session or retainer, so no need to worry.
Do you charge extra for travel expenses?
If the session takes place in the Montgomery County area, in MD, I don't charge additional travel expenses. For any other locations outside MoCo an additional travel cost will be added to cover for fuel and/or flights & accommodation if needed.
Can I have my pet in the session?
I can absolutely take photos with your furry family member! I love animals, so for me it’s a YES! We need to make sure the location we choose allows pets.
do you provide raw and/or unedited images?
You will hear my camera clicking all the time at our session, but not all those photos are going to be edited. I will be choosing the best of the best for you and edit those. Any unedited photos will not be given nor available for purchase.
